(Alex and Katherine have now been happily married for 25 years. Their daughter, Allison and her boyfriend, Dylan have come to her parents home to announce their engagement)

Scene 1

Allison:        Daddy, Dylan has something he wants to tell you and momma.

                      (Allison walks over and whispers to her father)

                       Please do not embarrass me …or Dylan. 

Alex:            (Innocently) Me?

Allison:        Daddy.

Katherine:  Dylan, can I get you something to drink?

Dylan:          No thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Roberts…

Katherine:  You can call me Katherine, Dylan.

Alex:            You can call me Mr. Roberts.

Katherine:  Alex. (To Dylan) He is just teasing you.
