The Message of      ESTN

There is no shortage of religions or philosophies in the world today.  As a result, society has many more choices regarding what they believe about God.  That can become not only confusing, but also overwhelming.  The gospel is clear; we each need a personal relationship with the one and only Holy God.  Perhaps this truth will come into focus with this candid discussion on the set of ESTN (Evangelistic Sports Television Network).

Sample scene setup and text of manuscript:

(The scene opens on the set of the television show ESTN SportsTalk.   Chris Breeman and Jack Thomson are co-anchors.  They are seated behind the desk.   Chris raps his pencil on the desk to the beat of the last few lines of the theme song.)

(excerpted text)

CHRIS:  Good evening sports fans and welcome to a special edition of ESTN, the Evangelistic Sports Television Network.  I'm Chris Breeman and this, of course, is Jack Thomson.
(He points to his Co-Anchor.)
Jack, we've got a great show on deck.

JACK:  That's right, Chris.  Like it or not, sports, and more specifically, sports figures have become very influential in shaping society today.  We seem to hang on their every word; we want to wear what they wear, eat what they eat.

CHRIS:  I'd just like to make what they make.

JACK:  Wouldn't we all.  These great men and women of sports have become icons in our society, with a tremendous amount of influence.  What we want to investigate in this special edition of ESTN SportsTalk is what kind of spiritual influence does the sporting world have on society?

CHRIS:  What role does God play in their own life and how are they able to share that with others?
